Can I play or post my song publicly?

Yes — you can play your Story Song at private events (like weddings, memorials, or church gatherings) and share it privately online or with loved ones. If you’d like to use your song for commercial purposes — such as advertising, film, podcasts, or monetized videos — please contact hello@storysongs.co for details.

Can I choose the style or genre?

Yes. You can request your song to sound like your favorite artist or style.

Who owns the song once it’s finished?

Story Songs retains ownership of the master recording created for your commission, while you receive full personal-use rights to enjoy and share it. You’re free to share your song with friends and family, post it on social media, play it at events, and use it anywhere your story is being told.

If a commissioned Story Song is officially released by Story Songs and that specific recording or version generates more than $400 in streaming revenue, any streaming revenue earned beyond that point is shared 50/50 with you.

To ensure accurate tracking and protect the integrity of the release, audio files should not be uploaded to personal distributor or streaming accounts. You’re welcome to share clips, videos, reels, or posts that include your song — and to reshare any official Story Songs releases at any time.

Will my Story Song be public on YouTube?

Your Story Song is delivered as an unlisted YouTube video. This means it won’t appear publicly on our channel or be discoverable through search, but anyone with the link can watch and share it. This makes it easy to enjoy your song on any device or use it for a special reveal, while still keeping it private by default. If you’d like your song to be made public, we’ll only do so with your permission—especially for videos that include personal photos or videos.
